About Eye Health

Eye Health is an independent educational website for adults navigating changing vision and for the families who support them. We organize practical information about aging eyes, eye appointments, accessibility and U.S. eye-care coverage.

Why I created Eye Health

I’m 48 as of October 2026, and eye health has become increasingly personal to me. Changes in my near vision and life with high blood pressure have encouraged me to learn more about aging eyes and the relationship between overall health and vision. These are my reasons for researching the subject; they do not establish that high blood pressure caused my near-vision changes.

I’m not an ophthalmologist, optometrist or medical professional. I research, organize and explain information from the perspective of someone experiencing age-related vision changes. I do not provide medical consultations, diagnoses or individual treatment recommendations.

What you can find here

  • Aging eyes and eye conditions: plain-language guides and questions for your eye-care professional.
  • Medicare and eye-care costs: coverage explanations and questions to ask your plan, provider and supplier.
  • Low-vision aids, device settings and everyday adjustments for readers and caregivers.
  • Appointment checklists and educational tools that help organize questions, rather than diagnose symptoms or guarantee coverage.

Sources, experience and review

Personal experience explains why I run this site; it is not medical evidence. Medical and coverage claims should be supported by identifiable sources, prioritizing the National Eye Institute, other government health resources, established professional organizations, Medicare.gov and relevant research. Product instructions should be checked against official documentation.

Eye Health is independently edited. Unless a specific article identifies an actual clinician reviewer and the scope of that review, it has not been medically reviewed. An editorial update date is not a medical review date. Older articles remain subject to review and correction.

Our editorial policy explains source selection, corrections and meaningful updates.

Independence and transparency

Eye Health is not a clinic, insurer or government agency and is not affiliated with Medicare. Advertising may support the website; an advertisement is not a medical recommendation. Any affiliate relationship should be disclosed alongside the relevant recommendation. See our advertising disclosure.

Corrections and contact

Use our contact page to report an error, outdated claim or broken link. Include the article URL, the statement in question and a reliable supporting source if available. Please do not send medical records or sensitive health details. We cannot provide individual medical advice.

This website provides general education and does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Confirm care decisions with a qualified clinician and insurance benefits with your plan and provider. Read our terms and medical disclaimer and privacy policy.

Some articles originated under the former name Encore Visions. Eye Health at eye.kioptrix.com is their current home.
